Naomi Coulter.

Naomi is a registered psychologist who predominantly works in the field of eating disorders and has over 15 years of experience working in child and adolescent mental health. Naomi has a deep understanding of the complex psychological factors underlying disordered eating behaviours and is dedicated to providing comprehensive care and support to people struggling with these challenges.

Beyond individual private therapy, Naomi provides group interventions and mental health support to individuals and families at Monash Children’s Hospital in the adolescent eating disorders inpatient unit.

Naomi’s ultimate goal is to help people restore a healthy relationship with food and their bodies, overcome their eating disorder and enhance their overall well-being, she firmly believes that recovery is possible and is dedicated to supporting her clients throughout their journey of self-discovery.

Treatment Approach

Naomi takes a holistic and evidence-based approach to her practice, recognising that eating disorders are multifaceted and often interconnected with other mental health concerns. Naomi believes in tailoring treatment plans to meet the unique needs and goals of each individual incorporating therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), emotion focused therapy (EFT), psychodynamic and family based therapy (FBT). With genuine empathy and a non-judgemental stance Naomi aims to create a safe and supportive environment for her clients. Naomi is committed to fostering a collaborative therapeutic relationship built on trust where clients feel empowered to explore the underlying factors contributing to their eating disorder and body image concerns and work towards recovery.

Naomi provides a space that promotes relaxation and an atmosphere that feels comfortable, safe and private.
